HAND PAINTED WOOL FELT with Maggy Pavlou

Painting is not just for the walls! In this class students will learn how to paint pre-felt wool and felt in the washing machine. The results are a textured wool fabric for use in home and fashion. Each student will use their imagination to paint and felt wool for a decorative pillow and book covers to take home with them.

Materials student should provide: 2 Stiff paint brushes, found in hardware stores, 1" to 3". Small stiff art brushes, a small bottle of Elmers CLEAR glue, rubber gloves, an old shirt to protect clothing, a hair dryer, pins, small scissors, 12" ruler, ANY 1/2 yard of light weight fabric for pillow lining. Pillow inserts are available at $7.00 to instructor or bring your own - 14" square to 18"square.

Materials instructor will provide: Pre-felt wool, paints, blank journals, misc. ribbons and buttons and tools for painting.

 

Maggy Pavlou is a small studio designer of women’s outerwear for 10 years. She is a well-known fiber artist who creates contemporary cloth for women’s outerwear and sells her clothing in galleries throughout the US. Her modern artisan cloth is most suitable for garments. She produces her fabrics using a needle felting machine and washing machine. Her clothing is sold in galleries and boutiques, and can be seen locally at Artemisa in Taos and the Santa Fe Weaving Gallery.  Maggy’s website is maggypavlou.wordpress.com
