MULTI-COLOR TIE-DYE with Nadina Barnes

In this class we'll mix and use procion dyes and learn a variety of fabric manipulations to create colorful designs. Through the use of tieing and other resist techniques, we'll create patterns and apply multiple colors to the cloth. This dye method requires a 24 hour “batching” time, so be prepared to take home wet fabric and wash it out on another day. .  Students may bring up to 5 yards of washed cotton or linen to dye You may also choose to dye t-shirts, vintage linens, or other 100% cotton clothing. Wear old clothes or polyester. 

Materials students must bring: Cotton fabric or clothing to dye, kitchen gloves, notebook for recordkeeping. 

Nadina Barnes dyed her first piece of cloth 40 years ago.  A skilled and multifaceted fiber artist, Nadina loves to share the many skills she’s developed during her creative career. She teaching students of all ages, from elementary schools through adult, and has the ability to make everything she teaches easy and fun!
