PAPER, STICKS, FORM & LIGHT: FIBER SCULPTURE with Jacqueline Mallegni

December 16, 2017
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Learn to build fiber sculpture with natural materials, and include paper pulp to the form. We’ll explore the concept of contemporary basketry by tying materials with waxed linenthread to form structure using rattan, grapevine, round reed and foraged local plant fiber (willow, tamarisk, cottonwood).  Your sculpture can be suspended capturing light and shadow.

Jacqueline Mallegni is a papermaker who creates mixed media minimalist sculpture with a focus on the concept of ‘the spaces between’ exploring the perception of a landscape. “The sculptures I create are small installations made with rattan, foraged natural materials, Japanese style handmade paper, cast flax and silk roving fiber, embellished with mono-prints infused with indigo and sumi ink”.  Please visit her website at www.mallegni.com
