TAPESTRY FROM EVERY ANGLE with Robin Reider

May 24 - May 27, 2019
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Participants will weave a small, self-designed tapestry.  The designing process will begin on graph paper using geometric shapes. This design will then be woven into a tapestry offering the opportunity for students to learn verticals, angles and curves, depending on ability.  Vertical color grading techniques will be applied to control the smooth blending of the many colors that will be available from Robin's hand-dyed collection of 3 ply wool. Students will learn slit and dovetail joints and the appropriate angle progression to apply to create various shapes.

Materials students should provide: Warping will be addressed in the morning of the first day.  We will be using EVFAC’s floor looms or bring your own. Assigned looms will be yours to use for one week following the class. Please warp 1.5 yards long, 15 to 18" wide, and 6 epi. Double end threads at each selvedge.
