March 2, 2019
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Please join us for an illustrated talk givenby weavers Dain Daller and Amanda Speer about their recent trip to The World Ikat Symposium in Thailand. They will be focusing on traditional silk Ikat weaving of Thailand known as 'mudmee,' supplementary weft techniques of Laos and Thailand, and even screen-printed warp techniques from Japan. On display will be beautiful textiles they brought back with them as well as a selection of their own work.

Dain and Amanda  are local weaver who live and work in the Earthship they built in Abiquiu NM. Their sustainable home houses three looms. Both weave under solar power, living completely off the grid, and wash their hand-woven, hand-dyed goods with rainwater collected off the roof.  Dain and Amanda are always looking for new techniques and combinations for their exquisite weavings.
