THE PERFECT WARP with Melodie Usher
Learn how to put the perfect warp on your loom! In this one day demonstration of back to
front warping you will learn some easy tips and tricks that insure you have a perfect warp every time. The use of an inexpensive and easy to create warp supporter will be employed so you can put a perfectly tensioned warp on any loom all by yourself. Each participant will get to try out the steps involved in creating a perfect warp on a Baby Wolf loom but the procedures learned can be applied to any loom.
Materials students should provide: pencil & paper for notetaking. Participants will have the option to purchase a 37 page workshop book and other warping supplies. Bring a lunch or plan to visit local restaurant.
Melodie Usher became a weaver four decades ago when she inherited her Grandmother-In-Law’s loom, a four shaft Bexell Cranbrook loom that was built in the late 1930’s. Her degree is in Interior Design from Purdue University. Weaving has allowed Melodie to use her love of color and design as well as her love of textiles. In September of 2010 Melodie received her Certificate of Excellence in Weaving, Level 1 from the Handweaver’s Guild of America. Melodie lives in northern New Mexico where she teaches weaving and creates woven art in her studio overlooking Abiquiu Lake.
