This training is an introduction to the Fiberworks weave drafting program, which is used to on EVFAC’s 24-Harness Louet Magic Dobby Loom. This computer-controlled dobby loom programs the shaft selection to handle sequences that are virtually unlimited. The design process is performed on a computer and provides the weaver with an intuitive way to design fabric. Students will be given a review of the program followed by time spent using the loom. After completing the class, students will be allowed to rent the loom. (Students should have some knowledge of drafting weaves.)

Materials students should provide: Students are encouraged to bring their computers and any weaving software programs they might have.

Leigh Alexander is a master weaver who likes to experiment with materials. She uses a wide variety of yarns, which she often dyes herself using both chemical and natural dyes. Leigh also designs clothing from her woven fabrics creations. She is well versed on a variety of multiharness, computerized looms and weaving software.
