WOOL COMBING with Glenna Dean

In this workshop student will gain familiarity with wool combs to produce Top - small ball of combed fleece.  Students will learn how to blend colors and fibers and gain the ability to see potential in a neppy roving by incorporating dyed nepps.( Nepps are tiny bits of wool that look something like confetti.) This workshop offers the opportunity to gain the confidence to make colored, textured yarns suitable for attractive sweaters and other knitting projects as well as thick, miniature batts suitable for needle or wet felting

Materials student should provide: None required but students are invited bring their own fiber challenges

Inspirations Kits include:  Rambouillet roving, loose fiber, wild or mulberry silk, nepps dyed in multiple colors

PS - The maximum class size is set at 5 but can expand if students have thier own combs. 

Glenna Dean holds advanced degrees in archeology and botany and is trained as an archeobotanist. Glenna’s Abiquiu Dye Studio, on the banks of the Chama River, specializes in plant dyes mostly grown or gathered in Northern New Mexico.
