BEGINNING EMBROIDERY with April Jouse

Embellishing your artwork through hand embroidery is both a creative and calming way to
take your ideas to the next level. In this class you will explore embroidery techniques to create a sampler, which will include basic embroidery techniques using traditional materials. We will explore how to expand your fiber arts language through creating textures and drawing with needle and thread. Students will need to bring scissors and pencil for taking notes, as well as ideas, samples or sketches for future projects to discuss.

Materials students should provide: Scissors and pencil & paper for taking notes, 

April Jouse graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA. Her emphasis was in the Fiber and Material Studies department where she focused on weaving, dyeing, sculptural crocheting, embroidery and printing. Upon moving to Santa Fe, she came on board at EVFAC as the Education Coordinator and is currently the Director of Operations.
