FELTING MENTORSHIP with Maggie Pavlou Saturdays, July 8, 15, 22
Students will explore their favorite technique, learned in the sampler class, Felting the Easy Way - beginning machine needle wet felting. Using silk, wool fiber, wool gauze and other non-traditional felting material, the emphasis will be on the creative process and individual expression.
Participants will be challenged to create cloth for a garment of their personal pattern choosing. This workshop will inspire students to think outside the box and gain confidence in their own creative ability to make a fashion forward looking garment. This workshop is meant to be fun, with involve participation of the group for critiquing each other’s work.
Materials Students should provide: pins, scissors or rotary cutter, ruler, tailors chalk, soft # 6-8 pencil or color pencil, paper to take notes [ this is optional ], 2 - 3 yards of silk 45” wide or wool gauze, pre-felt wool - 60" x 80” for a jacket or 60”x 40” for vest (available through Outback Fibers Co this is the best for garments and price), merino wool or silk fibers such as roving (available for purchase at EVFAC) pattern of garment student would like to make.
