This summer EVFAC will be hosting a FREE youth summer camp! The camp will focus on a wide variety of fiber arts, and include all materials, lunches, and snacks! It will take place
Mondays-Thursdays for the month of June.

Summer Fiber Art Camp!


KNITTING • WEAVING • DYEING • SCREENPRINTING • SPINNING

EVFAC’s Teen Summer Fiber Arts Camp will be held each day at
The Española Valley Fiber Arts Center

June 3rd-27th: Mondays through Thursdays: 10am–4pm
Drop-off & pick-up hour from 9am-10am & 4pm-5pm
Ages 9-17, Space will be limited to 15 students

This is a free program after a $25 registration fee to hold child’s spot! This $25 fee is paid one-time per student, and is good for one week or all four weeks. Program includes all materials, healthy lunches, & snacks. Spanish speaking instructors available each day.

Each day, two to three classes are offered in fiber-arts related subjects including weaving, dyeing, spinning, knitting, and screen printing. Finished projects will be completed in each art class.

Ruby Johnson: Spinning & Knitting

Students will learn to spin yarn on a bottom whorl drop spindle. Using their spun yarn and other varieties, students will acquire a basic understanding of knitting by practicing different stitches and combining them to make different fabrics and forms.

Frances Cantor: Natural Dyeing

Students will learn to dye with natural plants found locally, as well as other natural dye materials. Students will experiment with different colors and designs dyeing yarn and fabric.

Amanda Speer & Dain Daller: Weaving

Students will be guided through the full process of weaving on a four harness floor loom. Students will design a project, learn to read patterns, wind a warp, dress a loom, and weave!

Gel Lister: Screenprinting

Students will learn the basics of screenprinting including designing a project, coating screens, and printing on farbic and clothes.
