UPDATE: Rio Grande Yarn Cooperative!

We currently have WARP (!) available in our shop. You can purchase it for personal use (under 100 pounds) or in at a discounted rate in bulk (over 100 pounds). We also have natural yarn in stock in our shop for all your dyeing experiments (EVFAC does not currently carry the colors shown above, but will soon!).

For our upcoming order, we have been working with a dye house in Pennsylvania to recreate sixteen of the favorite colors Clasgens used to make. Our work to establish a dependable cooperative system, so the Chimayó galleries have a sustainable way to purchase yarn for years to come, is well underway.

This effort now also includes local Rio Grande weaving instructors and artists. Please email Kim at director@evfac.org if you are an educator or professional weaver and would like more information about how to be a part of this ordering process. It is only for bulk amounts (100 pounds combined of warp and any combo of colors).

A note from the studios…

We’ve noticed that some of our library books and small tools, like scissors, have been ending up away from their usual spots and not making it back to the shelves or tool areas.

We’ve also had to replace a few items recently, more than usual, so we wanted to send a quick reminder. If you’ve borrowed something or set it aside to return later, please bring it back the next time you’re in the studio. Thank you for helping us keep shared materials available for everyone.

Youth Fiber Studio

SUMMER CAMP is coming!

We’ve been getting lots of calls and questions about Summer Camp, and YES, it’s happening again this year!

We are currently planning four week-long sessions (Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Camp offerings will include 4-harness floor weaving (back by popular demand!), rigid heddle weaving, macramé, screen printing, fleece processing and felting, knitting, and more. Camp will wrap up with a showcase on Saturday, August 1.

The session dates are:

SESSION 1: June 15-19

SESSION 2: June 22-26

SESSION 3: July 20-24

SESSION 4: July 27-31

The final schedule and registration details will be available in early April.

Registration will open May 1st. 

If your child has attended camp before, you are already on our mailing list and will receive updates directly.

Camp is open to youth ages 10–17. We need to keep this age range firm, as the tools and techniques we’ll be using are not appropriate for younger participants.

We’re so excited to welcome campers for another great summer!

As always, camp is free of charge, except for a one-time $25 registration fee.

Want to support our youth programs?

We put together an wishlist with supplies we need for camp and classes for the year.

The biggest need on the list right now is a new printer. Ours has started “requesting” a lot of time off, and we never know if it will show up for work (haha), but we truly rely on it for camp paperwork, labels, daily handouts and all of our other operations.

Purchasing an item from the list helps us stretch our budget further so we can offer more classes and programs throughout the year. Thank you!
