Many thank yous to everyone who came out and celebrated Valentine's Day with us and our chocolate fondue station. We enjoyed sharing delicious chocolate and goodies with you! 

We are pleased to announce Mr. Gallegos of Albuquerque was the winner! He received a $100 gift card to EVFAC. We would also like to thank everyone who participated in our fundraising raffle!

Youth Fiber Studio:

Rigid Heddle Teacher Training!

We recently celebrated a milestone in our Youth Fiber Studio! Over the course of two weekends, we hosted 9 public school teachers and 1 youth instructor in our inaugural Rigid Heddle Teacher Training program! This program empowers local educators to integrate hands-on weaving experiences into their classroom curricula. Teachers from Española, Taos, White Rock, Pojoaque, Santa Fe and Los Lunas participated. 

We're excited to share these updates with you! More photos and details from this inspiring training will be posted soon on our Youth Fiber Studio page. Our teachers share in this excitement, and we look forward to supporting their weaving journeys and showcasing their experience and achievements.

This program would not be possible without our dedicated Board Vice President, Mark Bond. His generous donation of time and skill in creating rigid heddle looms for our teachers and their students has been instrumental in making this program accessible to any and all interested educators.

We also couldn’t do this without our fabulous rigid heddle instructors Peg Ickes and Patricia Romero, whose professional guidance, enthusiasm and dedication to rigid heddle weaving have been fundamental to developing this program.

Around Town

It’s Spring Shearing Time at Los Luceros!!!

Call for Participation!

Join us for our bi-annual shearing of the Los Luceros churro flock! This year the shearing will happen on Sunday April 6th. As always, we welcome volunteers to assist with the skirting - simply arrive around 10am and help pick the bits!

This year, we’re also organizing a “sheep to shawl” series of demonstrations, where you can witness the remarkable transformation of wool from fleece to finished product. While our wool processing and spinning demonstrations are set, we're seeking skilled knitters, crocheters, and other fiber artists to showcase additional techniques. Interested demonstrators will receive a small stipend for their participation. To join our demonstrator team, please contact Kim at director@evfac.org
