Fall Fiber Fiesta

November 23 & 24, 2024

Fall Fiber Fiesta is right around the corner! Artist applications will be out September 1st. All information regarding pricing and booth availability will be posted by August 21st at www.evfac.org.

Stay posted, as there will be a vendor limit this year. We will have the same number as vendors last year, but not more due to space availability! This show will be first come, first serve - it will not be juried. So stay tuned and sign up fast! We can't wait to have you at the show once again.

We are pleased to announce that we were again awarded the grant from NM arts which will help cover the cost of our extensive advertising, space rental, and administrative costs.

Remember, this show is only open to members, and all items must be hand made fiber arts made directly by those members! 

Fall Fiber Fiesta 2024 will once again be held at the beautiful Scottish Rite Temple in Downtown Santa Fe!

Fall Fiber Fiesta 2024 Important Dates:

Aug 21st: Application information posted at www.evfac.org

September 1st: Applications open 

(Applications will close when space is filled)

November 22nd: Load in morning and evening first night preview show.

November 23-24: FFF - 10am-4pm.

Ariat-Chimayo Weaving Apprenticeship

Soon we’ll have some pictures and more to share about the Apprenticeship that wrapped up after 3 weeks last month. All 9 apprentices completed the 3 week training and are now in the process of getting set up to weave with a Chimayo gallery!

For now, enjoy the studio scene of the apprentices hard at work!

EVFAC’s Artist of the Month

Meet Karen Hepburn

Support Karen and EVFAC by visiting us on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10am-5pm or by visiting our online Artist of the Month Collection

Finding fiber as an artistic medium was a happy accident for Karen Hepburn. She was inspired to explore needle and wet felting after encountering wool roving for sale at the New Mexico State Fair. She became fascinated by its versatility, colors and textures. Currently she creates a menagerie of needle felted animals, sculptures and felted goat milk soaps. Her whimsical pieces are inspired by forms and bold colors found in nature and wildlife.

Karen also designs and creates felt hats using Vintage Hat Blocks from the 1920s and 30s. She employs old fashion millinery techniques with wool felt, steam and stiffener to sculpt her original designs. Her hats are inspired by the forms these vintage hat blocks create.

Karen received her BFA in Studio Arts from UC Boulder and was a painter for many years. A native Californian she worked as a graphic designer in the Bay Area before moving to Albuquerque in 2006.

Around Town

Two of EVFAC’s members, Kathy Konecki and Theresa Holmes, are co-organizing a second group studio destash sale in Santa Fe on Saturday September 14 from 10-3 at the St John’s Methodist Church.  Our first one in June was so successful we decided to host another one. If you are interested in being a participating vendor in this sale, please contact Theresa at 75.holmes@gmail.com as soon as possible. Each vendor will handle his/her own sales in whatever way they choose. The church does have wi-fi.  The cost per participant is $40. There is room for 14 vendors.   Other than your entry fee there are no additional fees.  The 8 foot tables and chairs will be provided by the venue. 

If you wish to participate make your payment out to Theresa Holmes and send it by August 18, 2024 to Theresa at Theresa Holmes, 1810 Calle de Sebastian, I-5, Santa Fe, NM 87505. Kevin Aspaas is a Navajo weaver known for his work with the wedge weave technique. He’ll be giving an artist’s talk at the School for Advanced Research where he’s been in residence since July. You must register to attend.
