Fleece Processing Workshop

Write up from Fleece Processing Workshop:

Spring is here, and we are shoring Churro sheep once again at Los Luceros in Alcade! After the sheep have been shorn, we will be taking this fleece back to the center and fully processing it. Would you like to be a part of the group who learns how to do this?

Join us on April 11th and 12th for a 2 day fleece processing workshop. In this workshop students will wash, pick and card Navajo-Churro fleece to ready it for spinning or felting.

The following Saturday, Glenna Dean will run Spinning Saturday for those of you who would like help spinning. You can learn the full circle of the wool making process, from sheep to yarn, here at EVFAC this April.

Students will be using the Churro wool fleece that was shorn at Los Luceros.

This class will be taught by local fiber artist Carol Nieukirk.

Carol Nieukirk has been a fiber artist for over 20 years. She is a felt artist making quality felt yardage, rugs, saddle blankets and art pieces. She is also a weaver, spinner, sewer and general fiber fiend.
