Learn to use Vintage Pin Looms with Laura this April!
Pin looms came into existence in the 1930s and remained popular until the 1960s. It's hard to imagine that crafters created everything from blankets to three-piece ensembles using the 4-inch squares woven on these looms.
In this class, you will be working on looms borrowed from the instructor's personal collection of both vintage and contemporary looms in various shapes and sizes. Students will learn the technique, which can be done on any size or shape loom.
If you happen to already have your own pin loom, please bring it with you to use. Refer to the photo for the correct pin arrangement as it must have pins that are arranged in groups of three, as shown.
Once students master the basics, we will look at ways to join blocks to create fabric for fashion and household items. Students will also explore some of the patterned blocks that were popular during the 1930s and used to add interest and texture.
Materials instructor will provide for class:
Instructional handout
Vintage pin loom publication
Use of pin loom kit during the class
