Make Traditional Japanese fabric sandals with recycled fabrics:
Sunday, April 26th!

In this hands-on class, students will learn how to make traditional Japanese fabric sandals (Nuno Zori) using recycled materials such as old T-shirts, jeans, and towels. Nuno Zori are comfortable, durable, and eco-friendly sandals that have been enjoyed in Japan for generations.

This class introduces a sustainable craft practice while sharing a piece of Japanese culture. Students will learn basic braiding and weaving techniques and will create their own unique pair of fabric sandals to take home.

No prior experience is necessary. This class is suitable for beginners and anyone interested in upcycling, handmade crafts, and Japanese traditions.

What You Will Learn: How to prepare and cut recycled fabric Basic braiding and weaving techniques, How to construct and finish a pair of Nuno Zori

Materials instructor will provide for class:
All materials and equipment, including the braiding stand and recycled fabrics are provided for this class. Recycled T-shirts, jeans, and towels will be provided.

Students are welcome to bring their own fabrics if they wish.

About Eri Yost: Eri has been making traditional Japanese fabric slippers for over 15 years, inspired by a desire to reduce clothing waste after becoming a parent. Eri Yost combine sustainability with Japanese handcraft traditions to create practical, comfortable sandals that are popular in Japan. Her classes are hands-on and beginner-friendly, with an emphasis on learning by doing.


Class COVID-19 policy: There are no COVID-19 restrictions for this class. Please do not come to class if you are feeling sick, and it is always advised to wear a mask if you are comfortable doing so.


Class cancellation policy:  Please note: All Class cancellations are charged a $15 processing fee in addition to the following policy: Class cancellations 7 days or less prior to first day of class will receive no refund. 8-13 days before beginning of class, students will receive an 80% refund. 14 days or more before beginning of class: Full refund.
