Learn to sculpt basketry with Wicker!
This is a hands-on workshop during which you will be using reed to learn a traditional method of starting a round basket.
Gina’s approach to teaching the workshop is to give you choices about size and shape as you experiment with the reed weaving. You are encouraged to think of the workshop as practice and play. The ultimate outcomes will be left to each of you to develop, so all of your finished pieces will be different.
Students in this workshop will go over a few basic weave patterns, some shaping tactics, and borders. Depending on the ambitiousness of your basket, you may or may not finish by the end of the workshop, but I’m confident that you’ll be able to finish at home.
Materials instructor will provide for class:
reed - 2 coils for each student
wood bases
clothespins and small clamps
