This is an introductory class, all skill levels are welcome.

Warping yarn is included in the class. There is a small selection of student yarn available for use during the class. Students can bring in yarn from home and purchase new or used materials from the center during EVFAC store hours.

Learn to design, warp, and weave on a four harness floor loom with Dain Daller!

In this 4-day Introductory weaving Class, students learn everything they need to know to design and weave simple but beautiful weavings with a 4-harness loom.

The introductory course with teach you the ABC’s of weaving. You will learn to design your project, wind a warp, fully dress the loom and weave away!

Students will be warping their looms with 8/2 cotton warp. They may choose to weave a weft faced piece or an even set. They will learn plain weave and basic twill patterns.

Students will be learning the front to back of warping with Dain. You will have the use of your classroom loom for the entire week following the course. Some students find time to put on a second warp the last day of class, which will sub

Materials provided for this class:

  • 8/2 Maysville carpet worp is provided for this class.

  • A selection of student yarns can be used for the weft, and you may bring your own from home as well, or purchase weft yarn from the shop.

Materials students must provide for class:

  • Scissors

  • A notebook

  • Any yarns you have can be used in your weaving for experimentation!

  • Remember to bring your reading glasses if you wear them.

This is a long class. Please bring snacks and water to keep your energy up!

About Dain Daller: Dain Daller is a weaver and dyer. He has been weaving professionally for the past 13 years. He learned to weave at EVFAC in 2013, and hasn’t ever stopped. His work focuses primarily on Ikat dyeing and weaving intricate patterns on a multi harness floor loom. Class COVID-19 policy: There are no COVID-19 restrictions for this class. Please do not come to class if you are feeling sick, and it is always advised to wear a mask if you are comfortable doing so.


Class cancellation policy:  Please note: All Class cancellations are charged a $15 processing fee in addition to the following policy: Class cancellations 7 days or less prior to first day of class will receive no refund. 8-13 days before beginning of class, students will receive an 80% refund. 14 days or more before beginning of class: Full refund.
