This class is for: Advanced beginner - intermediate knitters.

Join Laura Ninnemann in creating this exquisitely beautiful, yet simple, fine-gauge hand knit shawl. The design includes seven gracefully curving short-row wedges ending in a total of eighty-four delicate points along the bottom edge.

The shawl is ample enough to wear in a variety of ways, is appropriate for year-round wear, and perfect for crisp opera evenings.

During this twelve-hour class, you will use/learn simple techniques that include backward loop cast-on, basic garter stitch knitting, unwrapped short rows, yarn overs, and one very stretchy bind-off technique. You will practice on a miniature version of the shawl you will later create outside of class so all techniques can be covered during the allotted time.

Students may borrow instructor-provided size 10 needles to complete the cast-on for your sample, or you may bring your own.

During the last hour, you will learn how to wet finish your shawl to emphasize the point design along the bottom edge. Your full-size shawl can then be completed at your leisure using the techniques covered and demonstrated in class.

Fine-gauge yarn to complete a full-size shawl will be available for purchase in a wide variety of colors.
